Kenya’s poll date changed to Uhuru’s birthday Standard

BY BMJ MURIITHI Kenya’s electoral commission has moved the poll date from October 17 to October 26, 2017. Coincidentally, president Uhuru Kenyatta, who is one of the two candidates, was born on October 26, 1961. Through a statement on Thursday, IEBC changed the date for the repeat poll occasioned by Supreme Court’s nullification of President Kenyatta’s re-election by the Supreme Court. Speculation had been rife for a few days that the date would be changed following a request by one of the companies with a stake in the exercise.
